History:

Jirou has always loved the stars. Part of this is because his father taught him how to read them at an early age, but the majority of it is from habit: a tendency to watch and fall asleep beneath them. His parents didn’t keep him planet-bound either, half of Jirou’s childhood being spent traveling in space, but the they were not a family of diplomats. The Akutagawas were quite soft-spoken-- just well to-do and enjoyed going off planet. Though this did not make Jirou detached from Hyoutei. He loves his home planet and always enjoyed the return there as much as his family‘s “vacations.” It just never crossed his mind that his parents were spies, though with that taken into account, it was reasonable that they were stressed when Jirou gathered his belongings and enrolled into flying school-- started making a name for himself and consequently, making their family name public.

Jirou wasn't a prodigy, or even a natural like he'd learned to be with navigation, but his quick actions and sheer interest of flying made him excel. He loved it and was soon teaching himself advanced military maneuvers just because they looked fun, catching the interest of Hyoutei's military. It would be the first of many offers to become a fighter pilot, all of which Jirou turned down because of the soon-to-follow purchase his own craft. It was an old, outdated "hunk of scrap metal," as many called it, but Jirou was not be swayed from his Sheepy. And with a few modifications, and with Jirou in the cockpit, Sheepy could really FLY.

Unable to be talked into perusing another career interest, Jirou started his own, independent shipping business. It was almost like smuggling, except he didn't hide what he was carrying and it wasn't his fault that he usually flew under the radar. Jirou carried medicine and other supplies almost anywhere, but it was ironically the military who gave him the best jobs. Dodging through battle zones was just too fun, no matter how noticed he became on both sides, but his invincibility did not last forever. Sheepy was shot down by Seigaku forces, Jirou waking up in Tenipuri 5's Med lab a few days later with a scattered memory of the accident. If it was even an accident.

So Jirou was more or less stranded. He could've called home, but was quickly intrigued by Tenipuri 5, which he started to call Sheepy-san and glom to even before his identity was confirmed and was released from confinement. And since he wasn't going home anytime soon, Jirou was given a position in command based on his piloting and navigation skills. He has now been on Tenipuri 5 for around six months.

Because he's been on the station for a while (or at least claims to be), Jirou knows almost everyone in one way or another. He loves meeting the new people who come on board too and willingly lends a hand when he's needed. If he's not asleep.
